Yogyakrta , Indonesia

YOGYAKARTA (often also called Jogja, Yogyakarta or Yogya) is located in central Java - Indonesia, where everything was cheap. Enough with the 200rb day, you can stay, eat traditional cuisine of the famous, and rent a bike to explore the beaches pristine and ancient temples thousands of years old.

A thousand years ago, London was the center of the ancient Mataram kingdom prosperous and has a high civilization. Who founded the kingdom is the Borobudur Buddhist temple which is the largest in the world, 300 years before Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Other relics of Prambanan, Ratu Boko Palace, and dozens of other temples that have been restored and are still buried under the ground.

But by some mysterious reason, the Ancient Mataram Kingdom government to move the center of East Java in the 10th century. It's magnificent temples were abandoned and partly buried by the eruption of Mount Merapi material. Slowly, the Yogyakarta area back into the forest was dense.

Six hundred years later, Panembahan Senopati establish Islamic Mataram kingdom in the region. Yogyakarta once again be witness to the history of the empire who controlled the island of Java and its surroundings. Islamic Mataram kingdom was leaving a trail of castle ruins and royal tombs in the kotagede now known as the silver center in Yogyakarta.

Giyanti agreement in 1755 to divide the Islamic Mataram kingdom centered Kasunan Surakarta in Solo and Yogyakarta Sultanate who established his court in the city of Yogyakarta. Kraton (palace) is still standing to this day and still serves as the sultan and his family residence, complete with hundreds of courtiers who have volunteered to run a tradition in the midst of changing times. In the Palace, every day there are cultural performances of puppet performances, gamelan, Javanese dance-drama, etc.

Yogyakarta today is a place of tradition and modern dynamics go hand in hand. Yogyakarta is home to the palace with hundreds of loyal courtiers who runs the tradition, but also there is the University of Gadjah Mada, which is one of the leading universities in Southeast Asia. In Yogyakarta, some people living in an agrarian culture is thick, but there is also the student with the pop lifestyle. Yogyakarta is a traditional market and handicrafts while standing next to a mall that is not less hectic.

At the north end of Yogyakarta, you will see Mount Merapi stands proudly as high as 9738 feet. This mountain is one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia. Traces of the eruption of Mount Merapi ferociously year 2006 can be seen in Kaliadem village, 30 km from the city of Yogyakarta. Mooi Indie style landscape of green rice fields and Mount Merapi as the background can still be seen on the outskirts of Yogyakarta.

In the south of Yogyakarta, you will find many beaches. The most famous beach is a legend Parangtritis Nyi Roro Kidul, but Yogyakarta also has natural beaches on the beautiful South Mountain. You can see the beach Sadeng which is an ancient Solo River estuary before the powerful tectonic forces raised surface of the southern part of Java so that the river was turned to the north as at present. You can also visit Siung which has 250 channels of rock climbing, beach Sundak, etc.

Malaysia has the world's tallest twin towers, New York has the Prambanan Temple which rises 47 meters and is made by hand 1100 years earlier. Singapore has a modern life, Yogyakarta has a traditional agrarian society. Thailand and Bali has beautiful beaches, Yogyakarta has natural beaches and Mount Merapi is a story about how powerful the forces of nature.

Unique combination of ancient temples, history, tradition, culture, and the forces of nature makes the Yogyakarta is well worth a visit.
